Finding True Rest in God

In a world that celebrates being busy, it’s easy to believe that our worth is measured by how much we accomplish. We fill our schedules, chase goals, and carry burdens that were never ours to bear. Yet God offers us something the world cannot—true rest.
Resting in God doesn’t mean we stop working or ignore our responsibilities. It means choosing to trust Him instead of living in constant worry and striving. It is believing that God is in control even when life feels uncertain.
Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-29, saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This invitation is for everyone who feels exhausted, overwhelmed, or discouraged. His rest renews our hearts, minds, and spirits.
One of the best ways to rest in God is by spending time with Him each day. Through prayer, reading His Word, and quiet moments in His presence, we are reminded that He is our refuge and strength. As we surrender our fears and anxieties to Him, His peace begins to replace our stress.
Resting in God also means waiting on His timing. We don’t have to force every door open or figure everything out on our own. God’s plans are always better than ours, and He is faithful to guide us one step at a time.
Today, choose to pause. Take a deep breath, open your Bible, and spend a few moments with the Lord. Release your worries into His hands and remember that you don’t have to carry life’s burdens alone. The God who created you is also the One who will sustain you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my place of rest. Help me to trust You instead of worrying about tomorrow. Teach me to slow down, seek Your presence, and find peace in knowing that You are in control. Renew my strength and remind me that Your grace is sufficient for every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
